we invite you to join us and live wide awake.
Have you ever lived life to its fullest — wide awake day after day?
Because if you’ve ever been there, you never want it to end. Even on hard days, you know you’re making a difference, excited to get up in the morning and happily exhausted when you go to bed at night.
But life gets overwhelming, and the world demands a lot. Before you know it, you’re drained, scattered, and struggling to make it through the day.
We’ve been there. We know what it’s like to be at our best only to grind to a halt. And we know what it’s like to sleepwalk through our days, looking for anything that promises to help (but never does).
But Jesus woke us up, and here’s what we discovered.
He didn’t want to be an extra item on our checklist or another guru to turn to for advice. He’s a revolutionary who calls us to radical change and sends us out into a world that needs real help.
And if you’re ready for him, he’ll pull you out of distraction and show you a vision for your world that will change everything.
Awaken is an elder-led, staff-equipped church.
Awaken’s elders are men who meet the character qualifications outlined in the Bible in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.
They lead the church together as co-equals, unique in responsibility but equal in authority. We believe this is the biblical model for leadership in the church.

Our Core Beliefs
The Trinity is comprised of three Persons - God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit
God the Father: God is an eternal, infinite, personal being perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, love, goodness and justice. He is the first Person of the Trinity; the Source, Sender, and Planner of our salvation. He created and sustains all that exists. He is compassionate to all people offering forgiveness of sins and delivering from death those who come to Him through Jesus Christ for salvation.
Jesus Christ: Jesus Christ, God’s only eternal Son, is the image of the invisible God and the second Person of the Trinity. He is the Achiever (Means, Sent One) of salvation taking upon Himself our human nature; was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary into a body like ours. He lived a sinless life, performed many miracles attesting to His deity, and gave us the words of eternal life. He willingly offered Himself as a substitute for our sins. He suffered extreme torture, was physically crucified, separated from God, died, and was buried. He was raised from the dead; appeared to His disciples; ascended into Heaven and will return again. He now sits at the right hand of God the Father interceding for those who have placed their faith in Him alone for salvation. Through His death and resurrection, He secured eternal life which is freely given to those who have placed their faith in Him alone for salvation.
Holy Spirit: The Holy Spirit (the Seal of salvation to all believers) is the third Person of the Trinity, eternally one with the Father and Son. The Holy Spirit proceeds (is sent) from the Father to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and testifies of Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit leads, enables and guides believers to understand truth and discern what is false, equipping believers for service and witnessing. The indwelling of the Holy Spirit comforts and strengthens believers.
Scripture: All 66 books of the Old and New Testament are authored by God through man, and are profitable for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training for righteousness. These books comprise the Cannon; the entirety of God’s Word to us. Scripture is used to identify sin in both a believer and non-believers’ life in order to bring about repentance. Scripture is the word of God, it is holy, living, and active for all of humanity. Any deletion to the scriptures is forbidden. God has providentially preserved His words. All the original manuscripts were perfect, inerrant, that is without error and authoritative due to the divine inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Scripture is infallible, that is, it is capable and trustworthy in all manners of faith and incapable of error due to the work of the Holy Spirit through the apostles and prophets.
Creation & Humanity: God created the heavens and the earth. God created man from the elements of the earth. He created woman and formed her out of man. Humankind is created in the image of God. Human beings are not an accident or a coincidence but were made for a purpose and have a unique place within the creation of God. Human beings were created by God, to glorify God, finding their meaning and purpose in God.
Sin & The Fall: Sin entered our world through an act of self-will by Adam and Eve known as “the fall”, thereby creating a sin nature in all of humanity which is inherited through all generations. All people are separated from God and accountable for their own personal sin. Salvation, redemption, and forgiveness are offered as a free gift by Jesus Christ to all based on His grace alone. When a person repents of sin and receives Jesus Christ as personal Savior and Lord, trusting Him alone for salvation, that person is immediately born again and sealed by the Holy Spirit, all sins are forgiven, and that person becomes a child of God, destined to spend eternity with the Lord.
Salvation: Grace saves us through faith in Jesus Christ; His death, burial, and resurrection. Salvation is a gift from God, not a result of our good works or any human efforts. Humanity is at the complete mercy of God for salvation. When we repent and turn from our life of sin to put faith in Jesus and His righteousness we will be saved. We are now righteous not because of our own good deeds but seen as righteous through the person and work of Jesus Christ. Salvation comes when one confesses with their mouth and believes in their heart that Jesus alone is their salvation.
Spiritual Gifts: The Holy Spirit empowers spiritual gifts as God wills to His children. These gifts are designed as a testimony to God and distributed to believers for worship and ministry. The use of spiritual gifts is for the purpose of edification within the Church that it would be built up in Christ. God uses these spiritual gifts to demonstrate His glory and anointing in individuals for the work of His ministry as established in the timeless message of the Bible.
Heaven: Heaven is a place of eternal blessedness prepared by God for those who have been saved by grace through faith based upon the finished work of Jesus Christ.
Hell: After living one life on earth, all will be judged by God. Those who have placed their trust in the person and work of Jesus will enter the kingdom of heaven and those that have not will enter Hell. Hell is where there will be eternal torment and punishment because of their own self-righteousness.
The Church: The church is the body of Jesus Christ; the called-out assembly of believers. The Church is comprised of all believers, both living and dead, who have been sealed by the Holy Spirit through faith in Jesus Christ for salvation. The church is both universal and local in nature. The church has the responsibility to worship the Lord, sharing the good news of Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection to the world, making disciples, baptizing believers, teaching them to observe sound doctrine and live a morally pure and joyful life that is honoring to God. The Church and its fellowship is based on Jesus Christ’s sacrificial agape love.
Marriage: Marriage is defined in the Bible as a holy covenant, a bond between one man and one woman instituted by and publicly entered into before God. We believe that God has given humanity the design and definition of marriage for the sake of human flourishing both within the relationship itself and the communities in which we live. This is why we believe marriage is between one man and one woman.
