Why Church Planting?

At Awaken, we believe the local church is God’s plan for redeeming the world, and that the best way to reach people is by planting churches.

That’s why we’ve set a bold vision: to plant 25 healthy, reproducing churches by 2035.

Our primary focus is not on growing our church bigger but on spreading the Gospel farther. That’s why we proudly partner with the Association of Hill Country Churches to reach every man, woman, and child in Greater Austin with the good news of Jesus Christ.

Church Planting Process

Our two-year residency program will equip you with the necessary gifts, disciplines, and convictions to plant a church, as well as train you in pastoral calling, ministry skills, and character development.

Assessment

- Pre-screening interview

- Online assessments (calling, wiring, strengths)

- Two-day in-person assessment with an experienced church planting team

Residency

- Two-year program

- Ministry experience and pastoral training

- Relationship building with Cityview staff and elders

- Evangelism, discipleship, and core team development

Launch

- Commissioning from the mother church

- Chartering the new church and forming leadership structures

- Practice services and soft launch

- Public launch and ministry kickoff

Post Launch Coaching

- One year of weekly coaching

- Personal support, accountability, and ongoing development

- Focus on the leader’s health, team growth, and church sustainability
